Gaga Mutes the Dumb

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

Westboro Baptist Church decided to protest outside a Lady Gaga concert in St. Louis. This specific congregation is known for it’s “God Hates F*gs,” anti-Jew and anti-Obama attacks. They basically love God by being bigots, I’m assuming. When asked why they were protesting the concert they say a number of things, but namely that Lady Gaga fans are tone-deaf.

“Now what type of wicked hypocrites would we be if we did not warn this little false prophetess and all of her over-indulged sycophants that they are each one, individually heading straight to hell in a gender-confused, self-loathing, tone-deaf hand basket and that a gift from the God they hate?”

Clearly those are fighting words, and I will never understand why fanatical God lovers adore the threat of Hell so much. They’re advertising hell gift baskets. Hell. Gift. Baskets.

But now for the good part, Lady Gaga puts her Twitter to use and shuts them down. This is over 140, but NY Mag said it’s from Twitter, so I believe them. (I just know it becomes a rant and people hate to read pass 140 in the Twitter streets.)

“At the risk of drawing attention to a hateful organization, I would like to make my little monster fan aware of a protest being held outside the Monsterball in St.Louis tonight. Although we have had protesters before, as well as fundamentalists at the show this group of protesters are hate criminals and preach using lude and violent language and imagery that I wish I protect you all from. Their message is of hatred and divisiveness, but inside at the Monsterball we preach love and unity. My request to all little monsters and public authority is to pay these hate criminals no mind. Do not interact with them, or try to fight. Do not respond to any of their provocation. Don’t waste your words, or feelings, no matter what you hear or see. You are more fortunate and blessed than they are, and in your heart just pray for them. Although I respect and do not judge anyone for their personal views on any politics or religion, this group in particular to me, is violent and dangerous. I wanted to make my fans aware of my views on how to approach, or rather not approach, these kinds of hate activists. Be inspired to ignore their ignorant message, and feel gratitude in your heart that you are not burdened or addicted to hate, as they are.”

Now, there’s some Godly action. Although counter-protest is awesome too and has happened on occasion with the Westboro clan. I believe I watched some special on this group but it was so long ago. I just remember thinking “wow, how unfortunate for their kids.” I believe they introduce hate speech to their kids – well, of course they do. I just hope they get extremely rebellious around their teens and break down the logic (or lack thereof).

Sidenote: I love that Lady Gaga calls her fans monsters. I personally would be like… “the fuck?” I do understand the concept, but yea… you’re not calling me no damn monster, heffa.

Dimepiece still stands as one of our favourite labels out there. The attitude, the fearless attitude and undeniable creative talent all adds up to some serious edgy clothing. Dimepiece has a reputation for its witty slogans and clever prints, while keeping a bold and fashion forward look to each and every collection.

There’s talk about wearing you heart on your sleeve, but to be honest, that is for slightly overweight boys with hair-dyed fringes and eyeliner. So, how about wearing your attitude on your t-shirt with the “One Pussy” Kimono Tee? The slogan “One Pussy You Can’t Fuck With” emblazoned over an image of a rather angry looking kitty, pretty much speaks for itself.

This tee has to be the epitome of attitude, courage and valiance. It’s almost a given that no-one is going to mess with you wearing this, after-all who’s going to call your bluff? It’s like wearing stylish dork repellent, only in T-Shirt form . . .

To get your hands on the tee, you can find it for $34 on Dimepiece right here

Thank you Style Noir UK we love you too!
