Vagina, Vagina, Vagina. It’s Such a Weird Word.

August 19th, 2010

What is a Vaginoplasty?
The Vaginoplasty is a surgical procedure that removes any excess vaginal lining and tightens the surrounding soft tissues. Sometimes, as a result of child birth or merely the aging process, the vagina stretches and loses its muscle tone and strength. Both the woman and her partner may notice the loose muscles during intercourse. A Vaginoplasty surgery tightens the vaginal walls, reinforces the vaginal support and tightens the vaginal opening. Vaginoplasty’s range anywhere from $2,000-$5,000.

Madonna’s 52 Facts

August 16th, 2010

In honor of the material girl’s 52nd birthday, Flavorpill comprised a list of 52 interesting facts. Then, I copied and pasted the hell out of it. Here’s some parts of the list that I found interesting. View the full list at the source.

7. Madonna once described her childhood self to Vanity Fair as a “lonely girl who was searching for something. I wasn’t rebellious in a certain way. I cared about being good at something. I didn’t shave my underarms and I didn’t wear make-up like normal girls do. But I studied and I got good grades…. I wanted to be somebody.”

12. She dropped out of college in 1977 and moved to New York City with only $35 in her pocket.

13. Madonna worked several minimum wage jobs to make ends meet, including one at a Dunkin’ Donuts.

20. Madonna’s often-copied signature ’80s look was created by stylist and jewelry designer Maripol.

22. Family organizations tried to get the video for “Like a Virgin” banned for promoting premarital sex. They were even more upset after Madonna’s now infamous performance of the song at MTV’s Video Music Awards. As she recalls it:” I remember my manager Freddy shouting to me, ‘Oh my God! What were you doing? You were wearing a wedding dress. Oh my God! You were rolling around on the floor!’ It was the bravest, most blatant sexual thing I had ever done on television.”

32. The Pope asked people not to attend Madonna’s Blond Ambition World Tour, which involved Madonna simulating masturbation on stage while caressing two male dancers. Her response: “I am Italian American and proud of it. [...] The tour in no way hurts anybody’s sentiments. It’s for open minds and gets them to see sexuality in a different way. Their own and others.”

35. Madonna dated Vanilla Ice for eight months. (girl, what?)

39. After a series of sexual escapades (including handing David Letterman a pair of her underwear during an interview and asking him to smell it) many critics wondered if Madonna’s career was over.

NEW VIDEO: M.I.A – XXXO

August 12th, 2010

M.I.A has a reputation for being avant-garde and controversial with her music so it’s a bit surprising to see her produce a music video such as her new one, which is definitely taking a different, more peaceful approach . I can only speak for myself, but it’s actually refreshing to see M.I.A doing something a little softer on the heels of her most recent combative music video which pictured the brutality and segregation of redheads. Check out the sultry, psychedelic new video for her single XXXO.

Hats Off to You.

Turbans, beanies, barets, fedoras, caps, head wraps…I wear them all. I think it would be fitting to say that I am an avid conisseuour of headwear. It’s actually quite rare to find a picture of my where I am not wearing some kind of apparatus on my head. The older and more unique…the better. Below is an ode to some head gear inspirations that have flocked my inspiration wall as of lately. Soon enough I will be posting my personal collection for eyes to see.

“Power” Video by Kanye

August 7th, 2010

There are few mainstream artists that can do what Kanye does visually, can be admitted at the very least. His new video coming after the 1,500 pictures from Laura and Ashley’s trip almost blended seamlessly into my evening. It’s a short preview, but the imagery creates depth. His fondness of gaudy is apparent, but I think I spied bits of symbolism – well a lot actually.

The opposed positioning, fluidity, hints at Greek mythology, and perhaps astrology continue a theme he’s had with recent videos. The video is no longer the co-star to the song but something that has mystery behind it. It doesn’t cater solely to the song without it’s own theatrics.

This is the alternative video to any genre you can put on Kanye. There’s no scenes or direct storyline. He even steered clear of the tiddies and ass he delivered in ‘Flashing Lights.’ (Booo, lol.) It’s as if he hushes criticism by making something you can’t really understand. I’ve debated many paintings but until you actually talk to the artist you have no idea what’s intentional. For me, that’s what makes it good, when I see 100 different things in 1 scene and I’m just figuring it out. I don’t know if my ‘all seeing eye’, Aquarius, Damocles’ sword and so on is correct, but it was fun Mr. West.
